Plot: Sidonie Gabrielle Colette was raised in a provincial French village where she and her father lived a simple existence. Then she married writer Henri Gauthier-Villars, a.k.a Willy. Shortly after their wedding, things turned sour; Willy, already an failed author bereft of ideas, forced young Colette to write lustful literature he claimed as his own. After separating from Willy, Colette began an independent writing career, whereby she managed to find her own literary voice and her own identity.
